Bradenton, Fla. Nov. 21, 2024

(Bradenton, Fla., Nov. 21, 2024) A $30,000 grant from Gulf Coast Community Foundation (Gulf Coast) has provided disaster aid to Ƶ College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) students and employees who have been adversely impacted by Hurricane Milton. The grant funding has helped cover the costs of temporary housing, food replacement, repairs and other critical needs resulting from the hurricane’s destruction.

“Many individuals within our college community have faced unforeseen challenges and losses in the storm’s aftermath,” said Cassandra Holmes, SCF Foundation vice president of advancement and executive director. “We share Gulf Coast Community Foundation’s commitment to helping our community recover and rebuild. This generous grant assistance has made a significant difference in the lives of SCF students, staff and faculty in need.”

“We value our longtime partnership with SCF to support employees and students to ensure nothing interrupts their education, including hurricanes,” said Gulf Coast’s Director of Community Leadership Jennifer Johnston. “We stand with SCF in their mission to ensure every student has what they need to succeed, in turn creating a thriving community. The quality education provided across our region, along with strong community collaborations to benefit students, are commendable.”
